Peacefield Conflict Resolution LLC, an Illinois limited liability company doing business as Peacefield (“Peacefield”) is a conflict-resolution, mediation, facilitation, assessment, ombuds, and coaching practice. PEACEFIELD IS NOT A LAW FIRM AND DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL REPRESENTATION, LEGAL SERVICES, OR LEGAL ADVICE.
Peacefield is separate and distinct from Hanson Legal Counsel. Although Justin Hanson is a licensed attorney and owns and operates both Peacefield and Hanson Legal Counsel, he does not act as an attorney or provide legal services when working through Peacefield.
ENGAGING OR COMMUNICATING WITH PEACEFIELD DOES NOT ENGAGE HANSON LEGAL COUNSEL. HANSON LEGAL COUNSEL DOES NOT REPRESENT A PEACEFIELD PARTICIPANT MERELY BECAUSE THAT PARTICIPANT COMMUNICATES WITH OR USES THE SERVICES OF PEACEFIELD.
Neither use of this Website nor any communication with Peacefield or Justin Hanson creates an attorney-client relationship with Justin Hanson, Peacefield, or Hanson Legal Counsel.
When Justin Hanson serves as a mediator, facilitator, ombuds, assessor, or coach through Peacefield, he acts in that non-representative capacity. He does not represent, advocate for, or owe the duties of legal counsel to any participant. Attorney-client privilege does not arise merely because Justin Hanson is an attorney.
An attorney-client relationship with Hanson Legal Counsel can be created only through a separate, express written engagement agreement accepted by Hanson Legal Counsel. No Peacefield engagement agreement creates such a relationship.
Information on this Website and information communicated as part of a Peacefield service is not legal advice and should not be relied upon as legal advice.
Peacefield may help participants identify interests, evaluate options, test assumptions, discuss risk, organize issues, develop proposals, or consider possible resolutions. Those activities do not constitute an evaluation of anyone’s legal rights or obligations and do not replace advice from independent legal counsel.
Peacefield cannot advise a participant whether to accept or reject a proposal, whether an agreement adequately protects that participant, or whether a document is legally sufficient or enforceable. Each participant is encouraged to obtain advice from independent counsel regarding legal rights, deadlines, risks, and proposed agreements.
Peacefield does not monitor or protect statutes of limitation, court deadlines, filing deadlines, notice requirements, appeal periods, or other legal time limits.
In mediation and other neutral processes, Peacefield does not take sides, decide the dispute, compel an agreement, determine who is right, or guarantee a particular result.
Peacefield’s role differs fundamentally from that of an attorney representing a client. An attorney owes duties of loyalty and advocacy to the attorney’s client. A neutral does not represent any participant and instead works with all participants within the scope of the agreed process.
Any memorandum, term sheet, summary, outline, or draft prepared by Peacefield is prepared in a neutral and facilitative capacity. It is not legal advice or a substitute for independent legal review.
Submitting an inquiry, leaving a message, scheduling a preliminary conversation, or sending information to Peacefield does not obligate Peacefield to accept an engagement and does not establish a mediator-participant, consultant-client, ombuds, coaching, or other professional relationship.
A Peacefield engagement begins only after Peacefield and the appropriate participant or participants have confirmed the engagement, completed any required conflicts and neutrality review, and entered into an applicable written agreement.
Do not rely on Peacefield to act, reserve a date, preserve confidentiality, or protect a deadline unless Peacefield has expressly agreed in writing to do so.
Website inquiries and preliminary communications may or may not qualify as mediation communications under applicable law. They are not protected by attorney-client privilege and should not be assumed to be confidential or privileged merely because they are directed to Peacefield or Justin Hanson.
Once a formal engagement begins, confidentiality is governed by the parties’ written agreement, applicable law, professional standards, and the particular process being used. Confidentiality and mediation privilege are subject to exceptions and are not absolute.
Information or evidence that is otherwise discoverable does not necessarily become confidential, privileged, or inadmissible merely because it is provided during mediation. Signed agreements, threats of violence, communications used to plan or conceal criminal activity, and other matters identified by law may fall outside applicable protections.
Participants should review the governing agreement and consult independent counsel concerning the scope of confidentiality or privilege.
A Peacefield engagement may affect whether Justin Hanson or Hanson Legal Counsel can later represent a person in the same or a related matter. No participant should assume that Justin Hanson or Hanson Legal Counsel will be available for later legal representation.
Any request for legal representation must be submitted separately to Hanson Legal Counsel and is subject to an independent conflicts review, applicable professional rules, and a separate written legal-services agreement.
Unless an applicable ombuds charter or services agreement expressly states otherwise, Peacefield’s Fractional Ombuds service is an informal and neutral resource. It is not:
Contacting the ombuds does not necessarily place the sponsoring organization on legal or formal notice of a concern. Anyone who wants to make a formal report or preserve a legal right should use the organization’s designated reporting procedures and consult independent counsel.
The confidentiality, anonymity, reporting duties, exceptions, and limits of an ombuds engagement will be described in the applicable ombuds charter or services agreement.
Peacefield’s coaching, apology, forgiveness, assessment, and consulting services are educational and facilitative. They are not psychotherapy, mental-health treatment, medical advice, public-relations advice, employment advice, financial advice, or legal advice.
Peacefield does not diagnose or treat mental-health conditions. Persons experiencing a mental-health crisis, threat of violence, abuse, or other emergency should contact an appropriate licensed professional or emergency service.
Organizations considering a public statement, apology, personnel action, compliance response, or other action with legal or reputational consequences should consult their own legal counsel and, where appropriate, communications, human-resources, or clinical professionals.
Conflict resolution depends on many factors outside Peacefield’s control, including the participants’ decisions, authority, preparation, candor, willingness to participate, and compliance with any agreement.
Peacefield does not promise or guarantee settlement, reconciliation, forgiveness, improved relationships, avoidance of litigation, reduced expense, legal enforceability, organizational change, or any other outcome.
Testimonials, examples, descriptions of past matters, and general statements about mediation or conflict resolution do not guarantee a similar result.

Use of a third-party service is subject to that provider’s terms and policies.
Peacefield is not an emergency service and does not provide crisis intervention. Do not use the Website or a Peacefield intake form to report an emergency, imminent threat, abuse requiring immediate intervention, or a matter requiring immediate legal action.
For an emergency, call 911 or the appropriate emergency authority. For legal deadlines or urgent legal advice, promptly contact independent legal counsel.
